ProVI completes its integrated railway design solution

ProVI OLA, the new overhead line design module, and the new cable route design capabilities will make their debut at InnoTrans 2026.

ProVI GmbH is bringing two major innovations to InnoTrans 2026. With ProVI OLA, the company will present its module for overhead line design for the first time, fully integrated into the ProVI software environment. At the same time, ProVI will showcase its new cable route design capabilities, which connect the individual disciplines along the railway line.Together, these developments complete ProVI’s comprehensive railway design solution. The four key disciplines involved in railway infrastructure design are now developed using the same underlying data within a shared environment, rather than in separate systems—without interface disruptions and without duplicate data maintenance.

New: ProVI OLA

ProVI OLA is a module within ProVI and, like the entire design environment, is based on a parametric and object-oriented approach. Overhead line systems are designed as intelligent objects rather than as drawing elements. Because overhead line design is based directly on the shared model, without requiring separate software or interfaces, changes to the track alignment become immediately visible in the overhead line design. Manual data transfers and subsequent rework between disciplines are eliminated. For engineering consultancies, this means less coordination, fewer potential sources of error, and more productive engineering time for the project itself.

New: Cable route design

The second innovation is cable route design. As a cross-disciplinary component, it connects the specialist disciplines along the railway line. Cable civil engineering, as part of the railway infrastructure design, provides the routes and structures, while cable design covers the cables required by systems such as signaling and train control, power supply, and telecommunications. In ProVI, both are developed within the same model as the systems themselves.

Changes made within the specialist disciplines are reflected immediately in the cable route design. A discipline that has often been handled separately until now therefore becomes part of a continuous, integrated design process.

Experience integrated railway design live

At three workstations, ProVI engineers will demonstrate live how integrated railway design supports day-to-day project work. At every workstation, trade visitors can experience the complete solution: railway infrastructure, signaling and train control, overhead line systems, and cable route design—all within one shared model. In addition, two public presentations will be held each day, at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. No registration is required.

InnoTrans will take place in Berlin from 22 to 25 September 2026 and is the world’s leading trade fair for transport technology and mobility.
